Dinosaucers was a cartoon that aired in September to December, 1987, running for 65 episodes total, and aired on after school programs. The cartoon was produced by DiC Entertainment and CocaCola.[1]

Summary

The "Dinosaucers" was about the titular faction battling the evil, "Tryrannos" - both factions were highly intelligent anthropomorphic dinosaurs. Upon arriving on Earth, the Dinosaucers allied themselves with humans and handed their new allies power rings which enhanced their abilities to superhuman levels, albeit, momentarily. Both factions had base of operations: Lava Dome for the Dinosaucers; and a lava pit for the villainous Tryrannos.[1]

Action Figures

Like any cartoon of the 80s, there were toys that were released for the cartoon but this series lacked any action figures? What happened?

Toy Fare

Fans first glimpse of the "Dinosaucers" action figures was in a magazine covering the February, 1988 Toy Fare. Although a release wasn't announced, the anticipation was high for these figures. Galoob, the license holder and company releasing the figures, had a complete toy line ready for distribution. The reason for the cancellation of the toy line was due to the toy manufacturer waiting until the series had run its course on the air waves as opposed to releasing them either before the first episode or during the show's run.

Gaslite

With the completed toy line cancelled, Galoob decided in order to recoup the financial loss of manufacturing costs, it was going to sell everything from the toy rights to the molds to the Brazilian toy company, Gaslite which the former had a partnership. While Gaslite held the rights, they manufactured at least one box (see Gallery) but unfortunately, and rather ironically, even Gaslite's toy line was cancelled. They sold the molds and box to one fan - Von Douglas Meneses[4]

Von Douglas Meneses

Currently, Von Douglas Meneses holds the molds - from the figures, play sets, and box. He creates his own line, but they're not for sale, and only for his own personal collection.[4]

Final Verdict

With the Galoob selling the molds, Galite selling those exact molds to a collector, these action figures will remain "Lost".
